To obtain a Virginia real estate appraisal license, you may now take online real estate
appraisal license courses - Virginia approved. The computer-based Virginia
appraisal classes
allow you to take classes at your own pace on your computer. This
real estate appraisal training is the same content as "live" Virginia
appraiser
classes. Each real estate appraisal course offers the state-approved real estate
appraisal training required for an appraiser that meets the state real
estate appraisal license requirements. These online real estate appraisal
courses allow you to take
the entire state approved licensing course on your computer. After completing the
90 hours, you are
qualified to take the state real estate appraisal exam and get your real estate appraiser license.
Do I take the 75 hour course or the 90 hour
course? You need 90 hours to sit for the exam, so take 90 to
start with. The 75 hour course is available for those who want to add a 15
hour course at a later time. The courses may be taken online or
by CD.

pre-license appraisal courses: There
are different levels of getting a Virginia appraisal license. |
| Appraiser Trainee - No
experience required. Requires 75 hour pre-license course followed by
application. The course includes 60 hours for the pre-license course plus
15 hours for the required USPAP* course. There is a supervised course
exam, but no state exam is required. An appraiser trainee is
qualified to work under the supervision of a licensed appraiser of your
choice. |

Appraiser – Requires 2,000 hours experience, 90 hour course and
passing the state exam. The course includes 75 hours for the pre-license
course plus 15 hours for the required USPAP* course. Fastest way to
get your license if you are already have or are obtaining the experience

| * The USPAP course is intended to
fulfill the 15-hour requirement as established by the Appraiser
Qualifications Board (AQB) of The Appraisal Foundation. This is a national
required course set as a minimum for all states. The Appraiser
Foundation website states: "Effective January 1, 2008, the
requirements an individual must meet in order to become a state licensed or certified real property appraiser will significantly
increase. Whether you are someone considering becoming an appraiser, an appraiser seeking a different state credential, a provider of appraisal education, or a state appraiser regulator, these changes will impact you."
