Virginia Real Estate Continuing Education

These online continuing education real estate courses are approved by the Virginia Real Estate Board.
Please check to see which course you need. Most agents need the 16 hour course.

1) This course includes the credit hours needed every 2 years (for agents licensed before 2004).
Virginia 16 hour continuing education online package
- This is the real estate continuing ed course that is required every 2 years. It is for all Virginia real estate agents who originally obtained their license before 2004. The course includes the 8 hours of mandatory topics and 8 hours of elective subjects. It consists of a review of real estate concepts and rules. At the end of the course, there is a multiple choice test, which can be taken until you pass at no extra cost. The course is Virginia state approved. You will get a user name and password so you can log in and out whenever you want.

2) If you need less than 16 hours of continuing education, you may take individual continuing education courses for hourly credits (2, 4 or 8 hour credit courses) to get specific mandatory courses or additional credits. This is for those who already have taken some courses and only need selected hourly credits.

3) This is for recently licensed agents.
If you were licensed after December 31, 2003
, you need to take 30 hours of post license education for your first renewal within your first 2 years of issuance of your license by the Virginia Real Estate Board. The courses must come from any one of three practice tracks: 1) Residential Real Estate (2 Commercial Real Estate OR 3) Property Management (Residential).  The online courses offered here are for the first track, residential real estate.

NOTE: You will need to check off all the mandatory courses and enough elective course to have a total of 30 hours.
